Biography

Originally from Cordoba - Argentina, Virginia took her first dance steps in her mother's gym at age five and later she studied classical ballet and artistic gymnastics. Her love of English led her to qualify as a translator of English at the Faculty of Languages in the Province of Cordoba.

 

She is a Jazz dance teacher, proficient in stretching, yoga, classical ballet and contemporary dance. As a Jazz dancer, she performed in the best theatres of Argentina with different dance companies.

 

She moved to Buenos Aires in 2008 to devote herself completely to tango. She became immediately  a member of the famous DNI Dance Company and School. Virginia worked there for seven years with her previous partner, Jonny Lambert. In 2015 Virginia started to dance with the well-known teacher and dancer Julio Balmaceda.

 

She has performed in the most prominent Milongas and prestigious theatres of Buenos Aires, and in the most important Tango Festivals all over the world.

 

She has created a Tango Technique based on Yoga and Biomechanics, which is well-known for the natural, fluid and effortless movement. Her dancing is distinguished  for being elegant and graceful.

 

She is an official Judge Member of The World Tango Championships (Campeonato Mundial de Tango) in Argentina and all the branches in different countries.

 

In 2015, she created, along with Julio Balmaceda, the show "Tango, a Society of Two", shown in St. Petersburg, Russia. Along with Julio Balmaceda, they have created a unique style recognised for their interpretation of the music and their dynamic. They combined elegance with technique, elasticity with strength; the perfect ingredients for beautiful, passionate and talented tango. 

 

In 2020, along with 5 other dancers, she has created the Mandarinas Tango group, a project which develops in different formats: Festival, Workshops, Special classes.

 

Currently, she teaches Tango and performs in Europe, Canada, USA , Oceania and Asia. Also she continues her work as a choreographer and dancer/performer.
